In 1975, a group of monasteries of Discalced Carmelite Nuns, desiring to strengthen one another in living out their contemplative vocation, formed the St. Teresa Association.
As the Carmelite Order enters into preparation for the 500th anniversary of the Birth of St. Teresa of Jesus in 2015, we again affirm our commitment to give each other our trust and support in living out the Teresian ideal. Our monasteries, each one uniquely blessed with the Carmelite charism, share a common vision of our Carmelite contemplative life. This is what inspires us to help each other to be faithful to the life St. Teresa bequeathed to us.
We believe that her doctrine and our way of life have incomparable value for our contemporary world. Together we strive to discover how we can live our vocation authentically with love and hope at the heart of the Church.
"All must be Friends, all must be loved, all must be held dear, all must be helped."
St. Teresa of Jesus
